The Drovers will kick-off their second grade Romano’s Cup season on Saturday, July 25, with the season finishing with a grand final on Saturday, September 26.
Deni will compete against Albury-Wodonga, CSU Reddies, Leeton Phantoms, Tumut Bulls, Wagga City and Wagga Waratahs in the seven team competition.
A final draw for the season is expected to be released next week.
Drovers president Paul Marshall said communication from league officials has been outstanding during the COVID-19 pandemic.
‘‘All clubs were asked to confirm their nomination of men’s and womens’ teams by 5pm on Friday (June 19),’’ he said.
‘‘Based on the nominations, a final decision on the draw and a start date was made on the weekend.’’
The Drovers have kept busy during the interrupted start to the year, with solid numbers training for the past two weeks in preparation for a season announcement.
Marshall said the club is keen for its first season in the second grade Romano’s Cup competition.
‘‘The players are excited to know that kick-off is now closer,’’ Marshall said.
‘‘It’s business as usual for us as we concentrate on some new and exciting combinations with our halves and centres, and continue to increase our physical endurance to play out the season
‘‘Our training has been expanded to Saturday afternoons to build that endurance, and to accommodate our travelling players.
‘‘We had 14 players at training on the weekend, with the club training three times a week until the season starts.
‘‘Tuesday nights we hold fitness training, while Thursdays and Saturdays involve more skill based training.
‘‘Mentally we’re in a strong position with everyone positively focused on the season ahead.’’
