For primary schools, the last term will see orientation days, graduation planning, and leadership reflections will shape their final term.
Meanwhile, high school students are entering a critical stretch.
The four-week HSC exam timetable for Year 12 students begins this week, while the Year 11 students officially start their final 12 months of classes this term.
Keep in mind that school zone laws are being enforced again.
Most of our school’s now have signs and flashing lights to indicate the 40km/h zone times, but it’s your responsibility to check and drive to the conditions at any time during the school day.
Tennis season served up
Tennis players had a fantastic day on the court at the weekend, with visiting tennis coach Matt Hort from Wagga Wagga leading a coaching clinic filled with skill-building and fun.
Parents and kids alike enjoyed the chance to learn new techniques while sharing plenty of laughs.
With the clinic wrapped up, excitement is building for the start of the local Deniliquin Junior Lawn Tennis Club’s season this Saturday.
Section 1 team announcements are just around the corner, and players are gearing up for a great season ahead.
Meanwhile, the Deniliquin Lawn Tennis Club’s twilight competitions begins tomorrow.
Asthma alerts start
The first of the spring thunderstorm asthma alerts was received in the Deniliquin region last week.
The project, coordinated by Charles Sturt University for Murrumbidgee Local Health District, tracks pollen counts which are sitting at moderate to high levels.
Thunderstorm asthma can occur when storm activity combines with high pollen levels, triggering severe asthma symptoms, especially in those with hay fever or asthma.
Health experts recommend avoiding outdoor activities during stormy conditions, taking prescribed preventer medication as directed, and ensuring quick access to your asthma reliever.

Correction
We wish to correct a statement included in the article printed on the Return and Earn program in Deniliquin, from Friday’s edition (Return and Earn machines moving, Deniliquin Pastoral Times, Friday, October 10).
In it, based on a post seen on social media, we said machine vouchers were no longer being accepted at Ritchies IGA. We have since been advised this is not correct.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
The process of removing the machines behind the supermarket has begun, and is expected to be concluded by March next year. A new location has not been confirmed.
