But this time, Elders has partnered with a number of other local organisations to make the event bigger and better than ever.
It will be moved out of Deniliquin, and hosted at the Conargo Recreation Reserve.
Now called the Riverina Sheep & Wool Expo, it will be held Wednesday, August 27.
The premier one-day event is being hosted by Riverina Merino, proudly supported by Elders, Nutrien and AWN.
“Bringing together Riverina Merino studs, guest Merino studs, studs from other breeds, industry speakers, trade and information displays, this is a one-stop shop for the commercial breeder in the Riverina,” the organisers said.
The event was formerly known as the Elders Riverina Sheep Expo, and was established in 2009 when drought conditions forced the cancellation of the Riverina Field Days.
The expo was initially hosted at Deniliquin’s Memorial Park.
To make it more accessible to the public, it was moved closer to the Deniliquin CBD.
Most recently it was held in the heart of Deniliquin, in the Deniliquin Waring Gardens, but has also been held at the Edward River Oval and Peppin Heritage Centre.
Conargo has been chosen as the location for the re-launch, as it is the birthplace of the modern Merino.
Planning for the event is continuing, with specific activities and attractions to be revealed soon.
The last sheep expo was held in 2022, with attractions including a blade shearing competition, the conclusion of the Northern Clip of the Year, and the judging and awarding of the Elders Riverina Merino Ram and Merino Ewe of the Year titles, and Elders Riverina Performance Ram and Ewe of the Year titles.
Reigning champion from 2022 is Australian Food & Agriculture property Poll Boonoke, which claimed its eighth consecutive Merino Ram of the Year win with Poll Boonoke 211153.
Australian Food & Agriculture has already confirmed it will be involved in the new-look Riverina Sheep and Wool Expo next month.
More information about the expo will be shared on the Riverina Sheep & Wool Expo Facebook page as it is finalised.
