Deniliquin CanAssist president Kellie Crossley said she was overwhelmed by the support from the community and from Ms Bartlett and Mrs Bennett, especially in these difficult times.
‘‘We are so grateful for the support from the community, and Lee and Eunice for organising the hampers, going around to all the stores and selling the raffle tickets,’’ Mrs Crossley said.
‘‘We haven’t been able to do a lot of fundraising because of COVID, so every donation counts.
‘‘The number of raffle tickets sold is a reflection on the Deniliquin community, and we are just so grateful.’’
The money will go directly to cancer patients in Deniliquin.
It was because of that Ms Bartlett and Mrs Bennett chose to support the group.
“We chose this organisation as the money stays local; we know the money is going to people in need from the community,” said Mrs Bennett.
The sisters were also extremely thankful to the community for coming together and supporting the organisation.
‘‘We want to thank all the shop owners who helped out selling the tickets, and to the entire Deni community for all the support,’’ Mrs Bennett said.
Raffle winners were Toby Vesty, Nola Wood, Joy Cecil, Alison McNamara and Annette Ross.
