The 13 year-old will be up against the best Under 14s cricketers in NSW, with the four-day carnival including players from NSW Metro and Country.
Charlie will be looking to show-off his skills at the carnival with Cricket NSW Pathway academy coaches in attendance.
‘‘It’s the best in the state so it’s a great opportunity,’’ he said.
‘‘I can’t wait to see how I go against the absolute best.’’
Charlie was selected for the side after a strong showing at the Country Cricket NSW Kookaburra Cup competition at Albury last week, playing for Riverina.
While selected for the side for his bowling, it was with the bat that Charlie shined brightest.
After batting at number eight in the first game he was bumped up the order for game two, opening the batting and scoring an impressive 63 runs on day two.
Charlie held his spot as opening batsman over the next three games, scoring a consistent 22, 29 and 22 respectively.
‘‘I wouldn’t mind opening the batting again at the State Challenge,’’ he said.
‘‘When I was told I was going to open the batting on day two I was pretty excited.
‘‘I also thought that I bowled pretty well during the week.
‘‘I didn’t get as many wickets as I’d like, but I still feel good with how I bowled.’’
Charlie will compete at the NSW State Challenge from Monday to Thursday next week, playing T20 and 40 over games on turf wickets.
