Their aim is to raise vital funds for the Cerebral Palsy Alliance to help pay for equipment, therapy and treatments.
Cerebral Palsy is a permanent, lifelong condition but generally does not worsen over time and is caused by damage to the developing brain either during pregnancy or shortly after birth, making it the most common physical disability in childhood.
CareSouth Deniliquin has formed four teams for Steptember who will all take time during the day to get outside and get their steps up in support of the cause while having some friendly competition within the teams.
Deniliquin permanent support program manager Pru McManus said CareSouth is passionate and committed to building strong communities and felt participating in the Steptember initiative would contribute to enhancing the lives of those living with Cerebral Palsy.
‘‘We support children and young people in our work so I think it is especially important for us to support a diverse community,’’ she said.
Mrs McManus said the four local teams are aiming to rase $200 each, and encourage the community to donate to a worthy cause.
‘‘All of our teams have been reaching their 10,000 steps which is fantastic to see and really showcases how dedicated they are to the cause and the community,’’ she said.
