For the past 28 years, the 56 year-old (pictured) has traversed the town for Central IGA — and Johnson’s Supermarket before it was purchased by Rob Hallum and Corina and Glenn Beames in 1996 — delivering groceries to loyal customers.
Mr Beckwith has always had a passion for cars as well, being a member of Deniliquin Collector’s Club and owning a 1963 Dodge Polara Convertible.
The self-confessed car lover said delivery driving is a job he has loved for many years.
‘‘Deliveries is my main job, but I’m also involved with basic maintenance and the fruit and veg section,’’ he said.
‘‘It’s no secret that I love my cars and I’m a bit sociable, so delivery driving is the ideal job for me.
‘‘I love that I’m left to do my own thing and have been able to build great relationships with customers I deliver to. I’ve been delivering to some people for at least 20 years.
‘‘It’s something that I enjoy. I don’t think I could work in an office or inside all day, so it’s the perfect job for me.’’
IGA’s delivery service runs from Monday to Friday — excluding public holidays.
