They continued to compete strongly for any lambs which offered reasonable weight and fat cover.
From the total yarding of 2890 head, total sales come to $538,198.80 for an average price of $186.23.
The lead of the trade and heavy lambs were dearer, with carcase prices from 1100c to reach an estimated 1300c/kg carcase weight (cwt) on occasion early in the market.
The sale lost some of its energy later in the auction, to be in the ballpark of 1000c to 1100c/kg cwt for handy crossbreds and Dorpers.
However, any lightweight lambs under 20kg cwt with minimal fat cover tended to be cheaper in this market, with plain and little Merinos caught up in the weaker trend - quality a factor at times.
A small pen lot of four heavy lambs topped at $350, with most of the lead crossbreds off some grain from $264 to $330/head.
Lighter lambs with plain carcase finish had mixed results at $150 to $206/had to be trending in the 800c to 900c/kg ranges depending on quality, presentation and number in a pen.
There were some lines of very light and small Merino lambs still in wool at $59 to $126/head.
The mutton sale was very strong, with a lot of ewes pushing back over 700c/kg cwt again.
Crossbred ewes sold to $252, big Dorper ewes to $250 and Merinos to $244/head.
