Strong crowd for historic fish release

A crowd of about 100 people took their lunch break at Willoughby’s Beach on Wednesday to witness history.

Eel tailed catfish were released into the Edward River at Deniliquin in a special project that has been 15 years in the making.

Partners in the project put on a barbecue lunch, which after introductory speeches, was enjoyed while the catfish were released into the water at the beach’s edge.
