Year 12 students from Deniliquin High School's Sport, Lifestyle and Recreation (SLR) class recently put their coaching skills into practice, delivering engaging sports sessions to students at Edward Public School.
The initiative, which involved three classes from Edward Public School, included a coaching session followed by a tabloid sports afternoon, featuring various games and tasks for the kids to complete.
The activities were designed and led by the senior students as part of their Sports Coaching studies.
“The Edward students get so much out of learning from the older kids, and I think the older students learn a lot as well,” said Edward Public School assistant principal Alex Glowrey.
“The two sessions were filled with lots of fun and laughter.”
The successful program demonstrated strong teamwork and leadership skills from the Year 12 students, while younger participants enjoyed the high-energy activities.
Special acknowledgment was given to SLR teacher Anthony Michael, and to Peter Rae for coordinating transport between the two schools.
