Most came from Victoria, with others from other parts of NSW.
And there were a few local players amongst the action.
Deniliquin Table Tennis Club founder and event co-ordinator Judy James, who was one of the local competitors, said she was really pleased with how the weekend went.
The tournament was for the over 30’s category, however a few local juniors were also able to try their hand in the competitive atmosphere.

Remembering our Vietnam Veterans
Yesterday was Vietnam Veterans Day - a day to commemorate the sacrifice of Vietnam veterans from over 55 years ago.
A small ceremony was hosted at the Deniliquin Cenotaph by the Deniliquin RSL, with a number of veterans and some community members laying wreaths beneath the statue memorial of the Vietnam War.
Yesterday marked 59 years since the battle of Long Tan, in which 108 Australian soldiers held off roughly 2500 Viet Cong.
Of those 108 Australian soldiers, 18 were killed and 24 wounded.
More on the service in Friday’s edition.
Daffodil Day at My Shop
A reminder that Deniliquin’s Cancer Council volunteers are again teaming up with Denise Phillips at My Shop to make a difference for those battling cancer.
The popular annual cake stall will be held outside the shop at 40 Napier St, Deniliquin this coming Thursday, from 10am to 1pm.
At the My Shop stall you can purchase cakes, slices, fresh daffodils, Daffodil Day merchandise and raffle tickets.
While there is a dedicated group who bake and make for the stall, any donations of cakes, slices, fresh produce and other items would be welcome to help increase the fundraising tally.
The Cressy St fundraiser is one of two Daffodil Day events in Deniliquin on Thursday. Turn to page 3 to read about the other.
Smoke prompts calls
Deniliquin Fire + Rescue NSW firefighters were called out twice between Friday and Sunday, but both were false alarms.
On Friday afternoon, a sighting of smoke was reported at the Deniliquin Federal Hotel.
Firefighters responded to discover the smoke from the chimney was the result of a wood fire warming the occupants of the building, which has been closed for an extended period.
On Sunday, firefighters were called to respond to a suspected fire in a residential area, which turned out to be a backyard fire contained to a drum.
Deputy Captain Les Booth said as the fire was compliant, no action was taken.
But he said it as a timely reminder for anyone lighting an open fire outside to advise their neighbours.
Local young tennis stars
Good luck to Jack McGrillen and Emma Wettenhall from Deniliquin High School, who this week are competing in the NSW Combined High Schools tennis championships.
The championships are being held in Parramatta, in western Sydney.
After this tournament, two boys teams and two girls teams will be selected to compete in an All Schools tournament against the Combined Catholic Colleges and the Combined Independent Schools Sports Association.
