Thomas scored 37 points to have a one shot buffer from club captain John Radeski.
In B grade Tony Tonta also had 37 points to score a one shot win from Sam Marshall, and in C grade the scoring was low with the winner Lee Pattinson on 32 from Annette Danckert on 28. It has been a long time since 28 points was enough to make ‘top two’ in any grade. However, in tough conditions most players found scoring difficult and only 30 points was needed to win a ball.
In contrast the scoring was high in glorious autumn conditions on Wednesday when Peter Seely had an excellent round of 42 points to win A grade by a shot from Dick Bolton. B grade went to Jamie Begg on 40 from Ken Maher 39.
We are extremely lucky to be in a position where we can continue playing golf, both social and competition.
All players are reminded to ensure they strictly abide by the social distancing protocols so this can continue. Remember, it is one person per cart, two in a group and always stay 1.5 metres apart.
Unfortunately, gathering for a recap of your game at the 19th is not permitted at present, but hopefully it will not be too long before some restrictions are lifted.
Tomorrow is a stableford event and for those who qualified it is also round one of the matchplay knockout. The following Saturday is the popular Borella Cup, though the winner is not likely to get as much use as would normally be expected.
