Only two of the 10 sides won both their games last Thursday, and those results propelled them to the top two places on the ladder.
Rob Morris, Mick Atley and John Murray have now won five of their six matches to sit comfortably at the top of the table with 20 points.
The two wins for Peter Chadderton, Chris Taylor and Lloyd Ritchie takes them to second place with 16 points.
Also on 16 and only one shot adrift are Shane Laing, Tony Danckert and Lindsay Dalzell.
The current ‘cellar dwellers’ - Paul Snare, Ken Salter and Kevin Keane - had a huge chance to get off the bottom of the ladder when they found themselves leading 10-1 at the halfway mark in their second game.
They still led 10-8 with only the final end to play, but managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in conceding a four to go down 10 shots to 12.
After play, it was Mike Donohue and Mark Tasker who had their names drawn to win the White Lion Hotel vouchers.
It’s the penultimate week of the tournament this Thursday, with the ninth and final match to be played the following week before the top four will contend for first, second and third prize money.
