The 26 year-old was one of five finalists in the parts and service apprentice category, celebrating the hard work and expertise John Deere technicians provide to customers across Australia and New Zealand.
It’s already been a bumper year for the Blighty local who also placed as a finalist in Apprentice of the Year at the 2021 Riverina NSW Training Awards after completing a Certificate III in Automotive Sales at TAFE NSW Wagga Wagga.
Mr Campbell says he’s come a long way from the shy kid who was too nervous to pick up the phone in the first six months of his apprenticeship.
‘‘When I started at Hutcheon and Pearce, I had the technical knowledge from working on farm but no real experience in the business side of working in sales,’’ said Mr Campbell.
‘‘I hadn’t turned on a computer in seven years, and I lacked confidence talking to customers.
‘‘My training at TAFE has completely changed me as a person.
‘‘I’m much more confident, and I have the business skills to back up my practical knowledge, and now I’m the first person to pick up the phone.’’
Hutcheon and Pearce Finley branch manager Brendan Prentice said the recognition of Callum’s hard work was no surprise.
‘‘He always goes above and beyond to deliver a positive customer experience, and we are very proud of his achievements,’’ Mr Prentice said.
‘‘We heavily invest in the future of our apprentices through the Hutcheon and Pearce Top Gun program.
‘‘In partnership with TAFE, apprentices undertake customised training in John Deere products, and Callum’s success shows that our industry is in safe hands as we train the next generation.’’
TAFE NSW head teacher automotive Wayne Sibrey said industry recognition at this level was a testament to Callum’s commitment to excellence throughout his apprenticeship.
‘‘Callum is proof that the skills and training delivered at TAFE are highly regarded by industry, giving our graduates a competitive edge when launching their careers,’’ he said.
