The annual Marc Kingston Memorial Toy Run will be held this Saturday in the Deniliquin CBD.
Toys - which should be new, or as new - can be collected from about 8.30am, and up until “lunch time”.
Toys collected are distributed to support disadvantaged district families.
The toy run is a collaborative project involving the Ulysses Motor Cycle Club, Deniliquin Antique Vehicle Club and Deniliquin Salvation Army, and will coincide with a display of bikes and vehicles in Cressy St.
Deniliquin Salvation Army community engagement officer Sandra Whyborn said the event has been well supported in the past, and is confident the generosity will be replicated this year.
“With the community’s generosity last year we were able to assist more than 100 families with toys and Christmas food parcels in Deniliquin and surrounding towns,” she said.
The Salvation Army expects there will be more than 130 families in need again this Christmas.
Ulysses secretary Peter Nankivell said the groups are hoping for a big turnout this Saturday, and a healthy collection of toys.
“All are welcome to come down and look at the bikes and cars, and have a chat,” he said.
“Most importantly, please donate some toys”, he continued.
Any donations will be distributed to local families by the Deniliquin Salvation Army.
Anyone unable to attend the collection day in the CBD this Saturday can leave their donations of food and toys at the Salvation Army Family Store in Cressy St, Deniliquin.
Volunteers are also needed to help with packing toys on Monday, December 12 and Tuesday, December 13.
