A great book is one that connects with its reader.
Books have the incredible ability to transport us to different worlds.
Whether it's through fantasy, sci-fi, a crime whodunit, a suspenseful thriller, a raunchy romance or a historical epic, a book can spark our imagination.
Some books make us feel like we're living in a completely different reality.
There was a person who was reading The Bible to learn about God.
As he was reading, a different realisation dawned on him: this book is all about me!
He felt like it was describing his struggles, fears, hopes and desires.
Reading The Bible not only helps us to see God more clearly, it helps us to see ourselves more clearly. The Bible can be like a mirror to our souls.
Like any good story, The Bible deals with the big questions and themes we face - life, death, hope, disappointment, love, tragedy, evil, existence, meaning, purpose.
Even though The Bible was written more than 2000 years ago, it has everything to do with understanding life today.
It offers insight into why things are the way they are, why we are the way we are, and how things could be different.
The Bible is a direct way to get to know who God.
Just like a letter to a close friend, The Bible is God’s letter to people from his heart.
It is His message to us and it is what He wants us to know about Him.
When the literary genius Sir Walter Scott lay dying, he said to his son-in-law “Bring me that book”.
His son-in-law looked at the more than 20,000 volumes in the shelves of Scott’s library and asked, “Which one?”.
“Need you ask?” replied Scott. “There is only one book - The Bible”.
In searching for God, go straight to the source - The Bible.
Jeremiah 29:13-14a says “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you.”
I encourage you to read The Bible and discover the treasures of God, his grace and mercy available to all.
