• ‘Double trouble, but now on to upstream’ - Deni swimmer Brenda Norman became the first person to ever attempt the Double Derwent - a 68km swim from Norfolk Bridge to the Tasman Bridge near Hobart and back. But with conditions not in her favour, Norman was forced to cancel her attempt after 11 hours in the water and 41km completed. Not one to shy away from a challenge, Norman was back in the water a few days later to attempt the first ever upstream leg of the swin, which she completed in nine hours and 26 minutes.
• ‘State championships at Deni Boat Club’ - After a COVID-19 cancellation in 2021, the Deni Boat Club was confirmed to again be hosting a round of the Wakeboard Victoria Championships in 2022.
• ‘Winners all around at Aths Carnival’ - All 16 athletes from the Deniliquin Little Athletics Club who competed at the zone carnival in Finley placed, earning them a spot in the pending regional carnival. Deni’s qualifying athletes were Georgia, James and Isabelle Barnett, Remi Baulch, Jessica Dover, Leah Ellis, Katelyn Godden-Cannard, Gabrielle and Lillianne Jansen, Oliver Meads, Jedidiah Miller, Bede Orr, Connor Wilson and Pippa Wilson.
• ‘Bonnie is one step closer to Vixens dream’ - Deniliquin Rams netballer and aspiring Melbourne Vixens player Bonnie Everett was selected to attend the Netball Victoria Talent Academy in February 2022. Deni Rovers netballer Makayla Finn was selected for the same program at the end of 2021.
