Our stunning river, our great biking trails and walking paths, outdoor entertainment and plenty of pubs with great beer gardens, it’s a great spot for a weekend or forever.
These holidays, Edward River Council is pleased to host and support a number of events, starting with a spectacular two day event at Deniliquin’s Waring Gardens in February.
Council received funding through The Festival of Place – Summer Night Fund to deliver “Lights on the Lagoon”, on Friday 11 & Saturday 12 February 2022.
The Waring Gardens will come alive when live music, food trucks, lighting activations and an outdoor film fill the park.
The free event, hosted in conjunction with the Deniliquin Business Chamber will activate Deniliquin’s CBD and will celebrate the beauty of the natural lagoon system that runs through the centre of town.
Night one will include a community workshop with lighting specialists IKARA where people will work together to create lanterns that will later be deployed on the lagoon creating a beautiful lighting spectacle for all to enjoy.
Later in the evening attendees will enjoy live music from local musicians, and enjoy a delicious dinner from one of the many food trucks / trade sites.
Night two will see a selection of food trucks / trade sites, including sweet treats, before a outdoor film screening.
Council is also pleased to welcome back the Deni Big Float on Australia Day.
This is a fantastic event for the whole community that raises money for Deniliquin Rescue Squad (VRA).
Locals and visitors are invited to jump on a flotation device and float from Willoughby’s Beach to McLean Beach. For more information, follow @denibigfloat on Instagram.
Whilst we know how wonderful our region is over summer, Council takes their role in telling others very seriously!
We have just updated our image library with a collection of beautiful new shots by Georgie Mann.
Georgie spent time in Deniliquin and the LGA photographing local tourist sites, parks and gardens and the township of Deniliquin.
You will see more of her images on the Visit Deni website and social media sites as well as in advertising campaigns in 2022.
To contact Council over the holidays, please call 03 5898 3000 or message us on Facebook.
We wish all residents a very Merry Christmas and New Year.
