Bennett will coach South Sydney on Friday night against Sydney Roosters and is set to add another chapter in the two sides' book of feuds.
A win for Bennett's Rabbitohs will keep the Dolphins in the finals hunt when they play Canberra on Sunday at Redcliffe. The Roosters are on 30 points, two ahead of the Dolphins and with a +15 advantage in for-and-against.
After playing a key role in the 36-30 win over Gold Coast at halfback on Sunday, Katoa was asked if Bennett had left any nuggets of wisdom behind that could assist them to get one over the minor premiers.
"Just definitely not giving up," Katoa said.
"That's something that Wayne always harped on about when he was here for the two years.
"No matter what the result, no matter the game, no matter what's going on in the game, never give up as a club and never let your teammates down. It's bigger than just us as a playing group.
"It's more about our family and  more about our fans. I'm happy that we could prove that today as well.
"No matter whether we have a chance to go play finals or whether we're just playing the last game of the season on Sunday, we're going to make sure that we perform and put on a performance that our club and our fans can be proud of as well."
Raiders coach Ricky Stuart has said he will rest any of his battle weary players that need a week off. Katoa warned his side not to underestimate the Canberra outfit, no matter who runs out.
"Canberra are a great side and I'm sure whether they play the starting side or whether they rest some players, they're still quality," he said.
"Any team that's coached by Ricky Stuart is going to come out there and have a performance that their club can be proud of.
"Their team is not what we're focused on. We need to focus on ourselves. We still let 30 points in against the Titans.
"We're definitely happy with the result, but there's still a lot for us to work on as a team."
Katoa agreed that the Dolphins must tidy up their defence. He said coach Kristian Woolf had given them the confidence they could beat any side.
"We don't have to do anything special. We don't have to do anything outside of what we're doing, just trust what we're doing," Katoa said.
"A big driving factor of that has been Woolfy. He's been awesome and getting us to obviously look at the learnings from every single game, but also coming in with a smile and ready to work hard."
The Rabbitohs and Bennett would love nothing more than to end the Roosters' finals hopes and assist the Dolphins. It's unlikely the mastercoach will be buying into the hype, however.
"I might give him a ring during the week. No, I'm just kidding," Katoa grinned.
