The 2020 -2024 Victorian Cancer Plan is now open for consultation with a group session being held in Shepparton on Friday, October 25 for residents to give their ideas on how cancer outcomes can be improved.
The plan identifies priorities to prevent cancer, increase survival and improve the experience of treatment in a bid to achieve fair outcomes for all Victorians.
Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp said he encouraged residents to have their voice heard by attending the session in Shepparton or by completing the online survey.
“Most of us have, or know someone, that has been touched by cancer,” Mr Gepp said.
“This is an opportunity for you to share your views, experience and feedback so that we achieve better outcomes in prevention, detection and treatment,” he said.
Primary prevention, screening and early detection, treatment, research and wellbeing and support are the key areas the plan focuses on.
By 2040 the government aims to halve the number of Victorians diagnosed with preventable cancers, ensure Victorians have access to the highest possible experience of cancer treatment and care and double the improvement in one-year and five-year survival rates of cancer patients.
The Shepparton consultation will take place on Friday, October 25 fro 9am at The Carrington, Shepparton, or the survey can be completed online at Engage Victoria.
