Those who enjoy the ambrose format and the fun of a charity day can get back on the course this Sunday, when the annual Deniliquin South School ‘A Day on the Greens’ fundraiser will be held.
It’s 11.30 assembly for a noon shotgun start and the timesheet is online.
Another ambrose event that is not far around the corner is the Corporate Golf Day, which also returns after taking a forced break in 2020. This is set to be a fantastic day, culminating in guest speakers Shaun Graf and Mick Lewis at the evening dinner.
Teams of four are $250 per player for a full day of golf, activities and fun, plus the dinner. Enter your team, or if you don’t have a team, talk to Norm Purtill or Adam Wettenhall.
Last Saturday we had a singles versus par event, won in A grade by Peter Joice with a sub-par round of +5, to win by a shot from the unlucky Vicki Hutton. Her round of +4 would take the trophy on most occasions.
In B grade Col Thompson had +3 to score from Dan Wade on -1, and in C grade Bev Purtill was the winner on square, from David Grant -2.
Last Thursday the ladies had a stableford event and A grade winner was Pauline Davis scoring 36 points, from Marg Rothwell on 34. In B grade Dot Wharton was the winner with 36 and runner-up was Yvonne Holmes 35.
Wednesday’s men’s stableford event was won by Matt Thomas with 41 points from Peter Seely on 37.
Don’t forget the raffles and meals which are available at the club tonight. Raffle tickets are on sale from 6pm with draws starting at 7.30.
