The teams coming second and third will play for the chance to lock up second spot and to play in the grand final next week.
Deni Newsagency is second on 118 sets, while Mitre 10 has 109 sets in third place.
And they play each other tomorrow.
Deni Newsagency had a lead over Mitre 10 going into last week’s round by 14 sets.
They drew with ladder leaders Peppin, 13 sets each, however lost the match by eight games, 116 to 108.
Mitre 10, on the other hand, advanced with 16 sets after a good win over Legal Eagles.
A strong win by Mitre 10 - of say around 18 sets to eight this week - would propel Mitre 10 to move into second place and the grand final.
If Deni Newsagency can win 10 sets or more, they will hold their second position and advance.
Newsagency captain Michael Williams said he had a strong team together for this week after some team disruption last week.
He added that the ladies can be relied upon to carry the day.
Mitre 10 captain Hilary Porter said her team is running hot with four three set winning players last week.
Mitre 10 played Legal Eagles last week and won 16 sets and 120 games to 12 sets and 107 games.
For Mitre 10, Jack McGrillen, Rowan Frazer, Porter and Monty Jones were three set winners.
In the Legal Eagles team, Sam Parkinson and Steve Todd were the three set winners.
Peppin Planners scraped through for a win, 13 sets and 116 games to Newsagency’s 13 sets and 108 games.
Three set winners for Peppin were Andrew Ritchie, Graeme Murphy and Clive Gow, while Georgia Moody and Shelby Taggert won their three sets for Newsagency.
The table after eight rounds sees Peppin on 131, Deni Newsagency on 118, Mitre 10 on 109 and Legal Eagles on 88.
