The girls were fired up and eager to play, starting strong in the first quarter with great energy and teamwork.
As the game progressed, Katandra found their rhythm and edged ahead, but our Blighty girls never backed down, fighting hard right through to the final whistle.
There was some fantastic play through the mid-court, but Katandra’s tight defence proved a real challenge.
Despite this, the girls kept their heads up and continued to push forward.
Best on court went to Mikayla Collie, who was brilliant in centre and wing attack, creating smart plays and feeding the ball beautifully to the shooters.
Ciara D’Aprile was relentless, running hard all game and putting in a strong performance across centre and wing attack as well.
In defence, Nicola Stanworth was a standout, working tirelessly and racking up multiple intercepts.

While there were moments of great play and teamwork, the game was marked by crowding and some costly turnovers that gave the opposition an edge.
There’s no doubt there are areas we need to work on, but I’m still incredibly proud of this team.
Their growth, their willingness to learn, and the way they support one another on and off the court is something special.
The fun they have, their sportsmanship, and the respect they show both teammates and opponents is a real credit to each one of them.
Awards: Jess Butcher, Sarah Bain, Lara Elphinstone, Ali Macdonald.

Once again, the Redeyes started strong, making our opponents nervous.
At half-time they made some very significant changes, with new players brought on for a much different looking goal end.
Our Redeyes fought hard all day and were within four goals at three-quarter time.
We most definitely took it to the Katters, proving again we are a team to be reckoned with and played to the best of our ability.
Unfortunately, Katandra’s shooter was very skilful and dominant despite our defenders working over and beyond.
The final score certainly did not reflect the contest on display. We are very impressed with the Redeyes’ efforts - they never gave up and kept fighting hard.
Awards: Emily Harvey, Amelia Hay, Sammy Watson.

The first quarter was level with a minimal score difference. The girls displayed strong skills and worked together well as a team.
Savannah Bain caused havoc in defence, creating many turnovers and applying hard pressure.
Milla Bode played a cracking game. Her pressure and ability to read the play was impressive.
Ellie Miller continued to be an option and created great space in the attacking end.
Amy Doherty once again shone in the mid-court, being the direction and flow the team needed throughout the game.
Unfortunately, Katandra came out on top, but it didn’t stop the Redeyes from fighting until that very last whistle.
Awards: Savannah Bain, Ellie Miller, Amy Doherty.

Blighty’s under-13s continued their strong form over the weekend with a convincing victory over Katandra.
From the opening whistle, Blighty took control of the game with fantastic positioning, ball movement and teamwork resulting in quick goals.
Co-captains Ella Charlton and Kaydnce Sibraa were once again pivotal in the win with not just skill and determination, but their positive attitude and support to continue to build team cohesion.
Continuing to shine were the younger members of the team, led by Alice Petersen, Peggy McKenzie, and Georgie Butcher, who all put in standout performances.
Peggy impressed through the mid-court with her speed and vision, while Georgie’s work in defence helped limit Katandra’s scoring chances.
Alice showed versatility by her strong presence in defence and accurate shooting in goals.
It was a full team effort from Blighty, with all players showcasing excellent teamwork, accurate passing, and strong defensive pressure, contributing to a well-deserved win.
The result highlights the exciting depth and talent developing within the squad, especially among the younger players.
Awards: Alice Peterson, Peggy McKenzie, Georgie Butcher.
