The Bombers started their day soundly, goaling nine times in the first quarter and against most other teams that would’ve been competitive, but unfortunately, the Grasshoppers piled on 22 in the opening period to take a double-digit lead.
L-G could only manage six more goals in the lead up to half-time with Colbo’s defence holding true.
Meanwhile, the Grasshoppers continued their reign of tyranny, outperforming themselves in the second quarter with a whopping 25-goal effort, 32 was the difference at the major break.
The Bombers produced their best stretch of attacking play, finding the back of the net 12 times in the third quarter, but it was not enough to catch Colbo’s staggering lead, which ballooned to 45 with a period still to play.
With the hope of a win already lost, L-G finished its day as it started, with a nine-goal quarter to wrap things up.
The Grasshoppers matched their second quarter total down the stretch, bagging another 25 goals to finish their day just shy of triple figures.
The final score was L-G 36 to Colbinabbin 96.
The 60-goal blowout only extends the Bombers’ misery, with the side unable to find a win in 2025.
L-G will have its best chance to get on the board when it comes up against Heathcote in round five.
