The Bombers are again well in the hunt for the flag and made that clear to the Cutters, who slumped to a seventh straight defeat.
Waaia didn’t let up on Mathoura from the opening siren, slotting six goals in the first quarter while the shellshocked Cutters hadn’t left the starting gates.
The home side kicked its first major in the second quarter but Waaia was quickly running away with the tie, up 64 points at half-time.
Things didn’t improve in the second half and Mathoura found itself well beaten, 21.14 (140) to 2.1 (13).
Aron Burns was the only Timbercutter to get his name on the goalkickers list, kicking both of Mathoura’s majors, while for Waaia, Charlie Burrows continued the form that has seen him to second on the league goalkickers list, adding six majors to his tally.
In a well-beaten side, Lachlan Carmody, Clinton McNabb, Jack Duggan, Luka Simpson, Corey Farrell and Jake Cardillini stood out as the Cutters’ best.
With Mathoura (5-10) out of the finals race, next week’s visit to Jerilderie (7-8) will be its final fixture for the season, and a last opportunity for the Cutters to finish the year on a positive note.
