With wide support from the district business community there were trophies and entertainment for traditional golf and novelty events.
A field of 100 participated and winners were Ryan Donkin (Finley), Rhys Thommers (Deniliquin), Bailey Burke (Tocumwal) and Ben Littman (Deniliquin) with a score of 54.75 net, from Finley locals Tony Smith, Jacob Smith, Darren Pyle and Kade Pyle who were runners-up on 56.25.
There many novelty events including NTPs, second shot NTPs, longest and straightest drives as well as a special event to chip into a floating target in the water hazard on the 15th.
There were only a small number of lady golfers this week for Daisy Mae’s stableford event. Linda Rendell with 41 points was the winner, ball competition winners were Julie Gregory and Margot Robertson 36; NTP on 13th was Kaye Sutton.
Anthony Kable with 38 points won men’s stableford on Wednesday. NTP 18th was Martin Cruickshank and ball competition winners were John Taylor 37, Vin Walsh (Castlemaine) 37, and Colin McNamara 36.
Junior golfers showed the way at the Summer Season Thursday afternoon nine-hole competition. Cooper Sutton was the winner with 23 points and ball competition winners were Harry Daniel and Leo McNamara with 20 points.
Jerilderie
Volunteers worked all day Wednesday tending to all our greens and getting ready for summer. There was no golf on Thursday.
Sunday was Medley Stableford and winner Brett Boland had a great 40 points, from runner-up Denise Boland 38. Ball comp Greg Collier and Laurie Blackmore. NTP 7th Luke Keating, 10th Barry Roe, 13th Luke Keating, 15th Mick Pitt, 16th Denise Boland.
Thursday will be Medley Stableford and Sunday Medley Stableford from red tees.
At presentation we remembered one of our golfers, David Legge, who passed away during the week. RIP Legge.
Berrigan
Friday’s winner was Joe Nicholls (45-18.5-34.5), runner-up Beau Walliss (46-9.5-36.5), putting Joe Nicholls with 13 putts and ball winner John Walker (51-13-38).
Saturday’s winner was Marianne Whelan (53-15.5-37.5), Marianne also won the putting with 12 putts, runner-up Joe Karakai (47-8.5-38.5), ball winner Joe Nicholls (50-10.5-39.5).
Sunday’s winner was Al Arnold with +3, runner up Anthony Holmews +2, ball winners Joe Nicholls +2 and Chris Kelly square.
Next Sunday is stableford with a new tee off time of 9.30am.
Pennant golf
Tocumwal 1 has secured its place at the top of the pennant ladder after another win in round three, played at Finley.
Tocumwal 1 sits two points clear of Deniliquin on the lader, with six points.
The Toc side defeated Yarrawonga in round three, 3-2.
Tocumwal’s other pennant side, Tocumwal 2, had a loss in round three defeated by CObram 2, 3-2.
In the other round three matches, Cobram 1 defeated Deniliquin 3.5-1.5 and Finley defeated Corowa 3.5-1.5.
