In a sensational display of teamwork, determination, and spirit, the Rutherglen Cats Under 17s have triumphed in the 2025 Albury Fabrication & Maintenance TDFL Grand Final.
With a huge contingent of Rutherglen supporters both at Sandy Creek and cheering online, the Cats set the tone early, slotting the first goal within the opening minute.
Although Mitta held a narrow six -point lead at quarter time, it was the only moment they were in front.
From there, Rutherglen’s rock-solid defence shut down Mitta’s scoring chances, while sharp, attacking play through the midfield pushed the Cats to a 15-point lead by half time.
The second half saw the boys grow stronger and more confident as their disciplined, strategic game plan paid off.
Heading into the final quarter with a commanding 27-point lead, the Cats surged home to seal a resounding 34-point victory.
An extra bonus was Sonny Enever-Cooper being named Best on Ground.
Despite being labelled underdogs throughout the finals series, the team proved that hunger, unity, and belief are stronger than any odds.
Every player across the 2025 season contributed to this incredible achievement. A special shout out goes to the six players who didn’t take the field on Grand Final day—your hard work and commitment were just as vital, and this cup belongs to you, too.
The 2025 Premiership Cup is home—back where it belongs at Barkly Park.
Huge thanks to the RFNC club, the coaching team, team manager, runners, water carriers and trainers and to the parents and supporters.
