Close affair in doubles championship

The croquet club doubles championship was played on Sunday with eight pairs playing in two sections.

Three games were played and the winner of each section played off in the finals.

In closely contested sectional games, John James paired with Bobby Murphy in the finals to beat Leo Barry and Brian Dudley seven hoops to five.

A foggy Wednesday didn’t deter play, with Ray Moye being the lone three game winner.

The two game achievers were Doreen Peterson, Alan Higgins and Mary James.

Ray Moye scored two jump shots and Alan Higgins scored one jump shot.

A number of club members participated in the Bendigo tournament last weekend.

Fred Littmann was the most successful, being the runner-up in the doubles contest.

Croquet this Sunday will be at 12.30pm for a 1pm start.
