Deniliquin Rams took on Cobram Tigers in the fourths semi final at the weekend.
Cobram proved too strong in the second half of their semi final clash, pulling away from a competitive Deniliquin side to record a commanding victory.
The opening half was a tight and low-scoring battle.
Cobram edged ahead early with the only goal of the first quarter, before extending their advantage slightly in the second.
At half-time, the Tigers held a 16-point lead, but with the Rams creating chances and applying plenty of pressure, the game was still up for grabs.
The third term, however, proved decisive.
Cobram’s intensity around the contest lifted, and their ball movement opened up opportunities inside 50.
They piled on four unanswered goals to push the margin out to 29 points at the final break.
From there, they never looked back, dominating the last quarter with another five goals to seal a 57-point win.
Final score: Deniliquin 1.4 (10) def by Cobram 10.7 (67).
For Deniliquin, it was a brave showing, with the best players including Rocky Sztejman, Logan Elphick, Bentley Hardman, Angus Henderson, and Ari Strongman, who also kicked the Rams’ only goal of the day.
Despite the loss, the Rams remain alive in the finals and will now face Moama in a preliminary final for the right to challenge Cobram again in the decider.

Thirds
The Rams headed to Numurkah to take on another tough opponent in Mulwala in a do-or-die elimination final on Sunday.
The weather was unpredictable, but the boys didn’t let that stop their game plan or their effort in the contest.
The Rams worked hard and managed to hit the scoreboard a couple of times in the first quarter, to let the Lions know we were up for the fight.
The game continued to ebb and flow for the rest of the match, and the boys had some amazing patches of play, but unfortunately couldn’t find the lead in what was a tough and demanding game of finals footy.

The Deni Rams put on a hell of a display in their semi final on Sunday against Tongala.
After a bit of a shaky start, the girls found their feet and played an impressive game of netball.
The attacking plays were precise, and our defenders were relentless with their pressure despite Tongala’s accuracy at goal.
Each one of our eight players played a pivotal role in what was a thrilling fight back from 11 goals down to come within 2 goals at the final whistle.
The club couldn’t be more proud of the girls’ hard work and resilience on Sunday.
