Convincing win for Deni Wanderers

The Deniliquin Wanderers Soccer Club have brought home another win against rival club the Echuca-Moama Border Raiders in round two of the ANTGK1 League 2 Men’s League Cup.

The undermanned side had a convincing win of 5 to 0, but coach Josh Perizzolo said the margin should have been larger.

“We went into the second half 2-0, but we had five or six more opportunities to convert,” he said.

“So there is still a bit to work on with our accuracy in goal.”

But Perizzolo said he he was very happy with the result, considering the side was under strength.

“We only had the one sub, so 12 players instead of our usual 19, so we did well.”

Perizzolo said a number of debutantes have stepped up to play in recent weeks, to fill in for players missing due to injury or unavailability.

“It’s good to see these guys slot in, play well and allow us to still take the win.”

Player’s player went to mid-fielder Martin Thompson who put the side five clear in a great display of teamwork and possession football.

The Wanderers will take on the Raiders again this Sunday, in round five of the regular ANTGK1 League 2 Men’s Championship.

The Wanderers are currently third on the comp ladder, with two wins and two losses under the belt.
