The under-13s were bumped up to division one heading into the tournament, well aware of the tough competition they would face, they prepared for the day’s play and what was to come.
Eventually finishing the day with a record of five wins, one loss and one draw, the girls qualified for finals.
The semi against Benalla was a great game to watch for all spectators as both teams fought hard to claim a spot in the grand final.
The talent and determination from both teams was on display and Deniliquin were deserving of the win.
They showed humility and gratitude to Benalla for such a close, hard fought game.
Facing Moama in the grand final, the u13s started to feel fatigue from the amount of games played throughout the day.
The presence of the Moama players was felt.
Nevertheless, the DNA side entered the grand final with optimism and were eventually able to take a win from strong play on all three levels - defending, midcourt and in the the attack.
Congratulations also goes Maggie SHields who was MVP for division one in the u13s grand final.
Maggie’s exceptional performance, determination and impressive skills did not go unnoticed by the umpires.
The u13s were coached by Chelsea Jeffrey.
Deniliquin’s under-15s representative team were also able to finish their season on a high.
Whilst they were unable to reach and take out the grand final, the girl’s were able to put up a strong record for the day.
The day was affected severely by the weather, but Deni won five games, drew one and lost one showing their ability to persevere and adapt to the conditions.
The u15s eventually found themselves in the semi final playing Moama, going into the second half tied the Deniliquin team were right in it.
Some excellent play from Moama eventually saw them narrowly escape in the second half.
Special mentions were made for Brydey Maher and Hannah Jammison for their efforts, and who shared the title of Deni’s u15s player of the tournament.
