Deni Newsagency powered ahead on Wednesday evening to prove to be the superior team in the final round of the Deniliquin Lawn Tennis Clubs’ sutumn competition.

They defeated Legal Eagles 16 sets 139 games to 11 sets 108 games.
“While not a consistent team over the eight rounds, losing three rounds, we had a few players who were consistent enough to pull us all through in the end,” said captain Felicity Dye.
“Our players held up their end in all sets and a lot of players would be very proud of their improvement over the comp.
“Zac Pearce featured in the best averages, scoring second best with an average of 16.4 games out of 18 every week.
“This type of consistency is what kept the team ticking over from week to week.”
Benjy Pisasale had an average of 15.9, Clive Gow with 15.8 and Chloe Sztejman with 14.9 games each week, keeping the score board turning over.
In the final round Damian Hancock, Max Ferguson and Benjy Pisasale were all three set winners for Newsagency.
Carl Wenke, playing as a four, didn't give in on the night playing for Eagles.
Mitre 10 were second going into the match against third placed Peppin Planners and needed to make up 11 sets on the front runners to cause an upset.
It was not to be. Legal Eagles played some really good team tennis to best Mitre 10, 15 sets to 12.
Four players for Planners were leaders in their team winning three sets - Georgie Perrignon, Adrian Dunmore, Jacob Bulmer and Eimear Gogarty.
They didn't have it all their own way though, with Serrin Canfield and Jemima Treble three set winners for their team.
