The weather was perfect, warm and sunny with hardly any breeze.
The Diggers were ready for a hard fight against the second top team.
Each rink started well getting a couple of early shots on the board.
The team of Craig Taylor, Lyn Hardcastle, Ian McKenzie and Archie Webster had a tight contest all day.
With two ends to go, the scores were level on 19 shots a piece.
Unfortunately they weren’t able to get the win, and ended up going down by three shots.
The team of Niels Hilton, Jake Glenn, John Wilson and Tony King had nine shots on the board before their opponents got their first one.
They held the lead all day, their opponents getting to within four shots with two ends to go, but they finished off brilliantly winning by nine shots overall.
The team of Rod Reid, Jo Chick, Sandra Hill and Danny Stanmore did not have as much luck though.
Their opponents had the better of them all day, playing some brilliant shots, not allowing the Diggers any luck at all. The final rink score was 36 shots to six.
The overall score on the day was Kyabram 72 to Deni RSL 48.
Not the result we were hoping for but we never gave up.
Today, Deni RSL’s Division 2 Midweek Pennant team host Rich River in round six at the Deni greens.
