Deniliquin ran out for their third game after two big defeats and were soon looking like conceding another after Rankins Springs scored in their first set.
The Dragons scored four more tries while barely making a tackle and led at half-time 40-0.
After half-time, it wasn’t all bad news for the Heelers.
With a few great runs by their big boys and a couple Ivanhoe back-ups, Deniliquin got their first try through Jayesa Vasalave.
Jamin Jones was then able to slot the extra two points.
A few more Dragons tries late ended the game.
Two Dragons players ended with a double, Damian Walker and Billy Vearing.
Walker was also able to convert nine goals, taking him to third on the competition points tally.
Final score: Rankins Springs 58 def Deniliquin 6.
In the other men’s games, Ivanhoe 22 defeated Barellan 12, and Goolgowi 8 defeated Hillston 0.
In the women’s competition, Ivanhoe 14 defeated Rankins Springs 4, and Goolgowi 8 defeated Hillston 0.
Deniliquin will be up against the home side of Narrandera in round four.
Both sides are currently without a win.
While Deniliquin played their best half of the year in the second half of last match, they are up against it here with the Lizards at home.
Narrandera haven’t lost a round game at home since 2021 and will be eager to put the disappointment of the grand final loss behind them.
