“A great weekend was had by all at the Deniliquin Motorcycle Club,” committee member Aileen Hayes said.
More than 50 vehicles flooded through the gates to set up camp and get prepared for a big day of racing on Sunday.
The track at Larcombe Lane was revved up with excitement, with riders eager to start up their engines and race.
About 200 competitors fronted the starting line for the round, with riders travelling from all over Victoria and southern NSW.
The sun was shining on what was to be a perfect day of high-quality racing, and as the sound of motorbike revs filled the air, riders and spectators were brimming with enthusiasm and joy.
MX1 competitor Kale Makeham - a former under-19 Australia Supercross champion, originally from Koondrook - raced on the day.
Makeham came out on top in the first round of the MX1 class.
Travis and Nathan Whitten, and their team from WBR Motorcycles Echuca, were also in attendance.
Bailey Malkiewicz, former World MX title holder, was also there with the WBR team.
The club welcomed the Edward River Mayor Peta Betts, who came out to the track on Sunday morning to see all the action and excitement.
Betts congratulated the Deniliquin Motorcycle Association on a “fantastic event”.
The club was successful in obtaining funding from Edward River Council for track upgrades and dust suppressant infrastructure earlier in the year.
“The MotoX club would like to thank the committee and volunteers for their hard work and dedication over the past few months,” Hayes said.
“They ensured that the track and grounds were in perfect condition and that the event ran smoothly, with a special mention to secretary Andrew McBurnie.
“Andrew has a passion for motorbikes and his dedication to the club is admirable.
“He tirelessly puts in long hours of hard work out on the track, improving conditions and ensuring it is safe for riders.
“Thank you to Janet Holmberg, our canteen manager, who provided a barbecue, sandwiches and other hot foods throughout the day - it was appreciated by all.
“The club would also like to thank Deniliquin High school for organising flag marshals.
“A special thank you to the Northern Regions MX Committee for their expertise in running a successful event at the Deniliquin track.”
