Griffiths wins best cowboy

Corbin Mundy was second in the division 2 bull ride.

Only two out of the six cowboys received a score in the famous bull ride at Deniliquin’s annual rodeo.

All others were bucked off before achieving the obligatory eight seconds.

While the cowboys put in a valiant effort, some of the bulls proved to be just too tough on the night.

The cowboys that did manage to stay on until after the siren were Kade Griffiths and Cameron Southern.

Griffiths’ ride earned him an excellent score of 83, placing him in first position.

Southern scored 77 to place second.

While the bulls were the main winners in that section, the cowboys faired better against the bucking broncos.

All four competitors in the bareback bronc ride made the eight seconds.

It was a similar story in division one of the saddle bronc, with all but one of the competing riders making eight seconds and posting impressive scores.

A Pub/Club Steer Challenge was a popular part of the evening, with the Pretty Pine Hotel’s nominated rider taking the chocolates.
