There were 150 kids plus parents and helpers, supporting not only in the important coaching positions but with ball retrieval and the canteen.
Club president Jon Gatacre specifically thanked Matt Tubb, Jack Eastman, Brad Aiken, Mick Farley, Darcy Pogue, Jim MacDonald, Ian Paton, Nic Bliss and Ben Milliken, and Victoria Gatacre and Dom Jansen who head up the canteen team.
The section one grand final was between Intersport Deni and Riv Beef Rippers.
These two teams have been dominant all year, and Intersport Deni proved too powerful with Henry Pisasale, William Steenholdt and Mickey Benger all winning their three sets.
Intersport won 10 sets to Riv Beef’s four.
The only resistance was James Gatacre, who was a three set winner for his side.
James also ended up winning the coveted three set award for the 2023 season.
“What a year we have had at the Deniliquin junior lawn tennis club and we hope to see everyone back after the Xmas break at the start of the school term one,” Jon said.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our amazing kids and parents who enjoy our Saturday morning program.
“Also our wonderful sponsors who contribute to our program and give us the ability to provide the ice cream van for the kids, weekly awards and other activities.”
