‘Macca’ had the good fortune to have his name drawn after play for his chance to find the elusive joker, and then that luck continued when he plucked the joker and claimed the $2500 cash jackpot.
Col Knuckey and Ken ‘Titch’ Salter were clear winners on the day with three wins and plus 41 shots, on what will be the last game of Joker Bowls until after the completion of the Pennant season next March.
Joanne Bovell, the organiser and driving force behind this very successful innovation for the club, has indicated that the popular competition will resume soon after the Pennant season is completed.
As a lead in to the start of Pennant in early October, the club will be conducting a mini round robin series of matches each Thursday evening throughout September.
It is hoped to have eight teams of four play two matches of 10 ends each night, under the watchful eye of the Pennant selectors.
Titch Salter and Col Knuckey won the last game of the season.
It is the club’s opinion that this will be considerably more beneficial than just casual Thursday practice, with the selectors able to make more informed decisions on who should play where when Pennant commences.
The club is pleased to announce that the White Lion Hotel will be the sponsor of the month-long competition, and is extremely grateful for the ongoing generous support that Peter and Maria Strongman offer.
