The slower-paced game is ideal for older or less mobile members of the community.
The group went into hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Their return was then impeded again during the floods, due to the use of the Deniliquin Sports & Entertainment Stadium being used as an emergency evacuation centre for the district.
Now back in full swing, member Anita Wilson said new players are always welcome.
In fact, new members would secure the future of the club this season and beyond.
“Because we have not played for so long we have lost a few members, and there are some older member who can’t play any more but still come along to help where they can,” Wilson said.
“Lifeball is a great way to get some light exercise, but we’re also about fellowship and having fun.
“We need a minimum of six people per side, plus an umpire, and the cost is just $5 per session.”
Lifeball is a scored but non-competitive team game.
Played on a netball sized court divided into three zones, the object of the game is to get the ball to a position where a goal can be scored.
Lifeball is designed to utilise very basic skills - walking pace, ball passing by handing or throwing to a teammate, catching a ball, and shooting for goal.
As a walking game, it allows all team members to be equally involved, and can be adapted for all fitness levels.
Lifeball is played every Monday at the stadium from 9.15am.
Everyone is welcome. Simply wear comfortable clothes and flat soled sports shoes.
