Echuca United drew the unenviable task of the undefeated Rumbalara and found the going tough on Rumba’s home court at Rumbalara Recreation Reserve.
The Eagles made some inroads into the home side’s defences in the first quarter, but Rumba had built a healthy 16-8 lead by the time the siren sounded for quarter-time.
Rumbalara displayed the form that has made it the side to beat in the Murray Netball League this season, extending its lead to 18 by half-time.
Echuca United was able to slow the ladder-leaders down somewhat in the third, trailing 11-14 for the period.
Rumba then closed out the game in another dominant display, taking the game 68-33 at the final siren.
Echuca United (2-11-2) remains in 10th position on the ladder, with the tough assignment of Finley coming up on August 10 in the second half of another Murray League split round.
Magpies on track for second spot
Moama has almost sewn up second place on the ladder after defeating Mulwala 48-41 at Moama Recreation Reserve.
The Lions made a good accounting of themselves in the contest, but the Magpies slowly crept ahead across the four quarters.
Moama led by just five goals at the main break, extending the advantage to nine by three-quarter-time.
Mulwala was able to claw one back in the fourth, but Moama claimed victory by seven goals, its 10th straight win of the season.
Now two wins clear of third with just three rounds to go, the Magpies (13-2) can take a huge step towards locking up second position with a win at Congupna (3-12) next Saturday.
Blues blitz buries Barooga
Tongala showed no sympathy for strugglers Barooga, defeating it comprehensively, 69-12, at Tongala Recreation Reserve.
With goal percentage possibly key to the Blues final ladder position, Tonny seized the opportunity to run up a big score over the Hawks.
The lead was established early, with Tongala up 12 by the first break. The advantage was extended to 29 by half-time before the Blues held Barooga scoreless in the third, positioning themselves for the huge win.
Tongala (11-4), in third position, continues to hold off Finley on percentage, as it prepares to travel to Mulwala (7-8) next weekend.
