Finals contender Jerilderie hosted the Timbercutters at Jeriliderie Recreation Reserve and piled on the hurt throughout the fixture.
The Demons pressured Mathoura from the off and quickly stamped their authority on the contest with seven goals in the opening term.
While the hosts weren’t as clinical in front of the sticks in the remaining quarters, the huge weight of pressure and field position still allowed Jerilderie to cruise home 16.25 (121) to 1.3 (9).
Clinton Atkinson found the target for the Cutters’ lone major.
Despite the heavy defeat, Mathoura’s progression at the defensive end is clear looking back through its 2025 results.
Early in the season, the Cutters were routinely giving up 180-240 points a contest, but have conceded 140 points or fewer in their past five fixtures.
In a season that was never going to be about wins on the board, it’s a good sign that the inexperienced group is making steps to come back better in the future.
Mathoura will head to Memorial Park to face Deniliquin Rovers on Saturday.
