Deniliquin High School’s under-15s netballers made the long trek to Wollongong last week to compete against the best netballers in the state.
The two day NSW Combined High Schools Netball Championships enabled the young squad to experience playing against tough competition.
The team - consisting of Emma Parks, Ava Robinson, Eliza Atley, Paige Brown, Hazel Glowrey, Chelsea Weir, Makayla Finn, Molly Bradley and Ava Richards - played against 16 other school teams.
Chloe Brown was the team’s badged umpire for the competition.
She received lots of positive feedback from players and spectators involved in the games she controlled.
The DHS team played some outstanding netball against some strong teams.
Teacher Alex Glowrey said this resulted in a mix of wins and close games.
“Each player gave it 100 per cent and worked well as part of the team,” she said.
“The highlight of the competition was the last game with a one goal win over Albury High.
“This was a redemption game after losing the Riverina knockout to Albury by one point back in July.
“The team would like to thank Tim Van Lieshout who drove the bus and provided some valuable inspirational words during the team huddles.”
