They won 19 sets and 138 games against Legal Eagles 7 sets and 99 games.
Eight, or nearly a third of sets, were decided in a tie break.
Early winds for the first set gave way to a pleasant evening as the wind cleared, and the sun was beginning to sink.
James Hermiston was a three set winner playing against Will Bull, while Ric Bond was a three set winner playing Hugh Landale.
Monique Gordon, Jemma Smith, Tom Hook and Andrew Smith were also three set winners for Newsagency.
Steve Todd is playing exceptionally well for Legal Eagles, winning three sets for his team that was otherwise losing all over the court.
Competition leaders Peppin Planners were playing second placed Mitre 10, but really didn’t get it all their own way.
Peppin number one lady Annie Romanin sustained a nasty muscle tear that will likely keep her off the court for the rest of the comp.
She had won her first set playing with Donna McCluskey, but went ‘head over turkey’ at the beginning of her second set.
As Annie was unable to continue, her second and third rounds were scored as 6-0 wins to Mitre 10.
Nonetheless, Peppin recorded a win, 15 sets to 11.
Mitre 10 won the third round 5-4, but the damage from the first two sets couldn’t be overcome.
McCluskey, ladies captain for Peppin, was a three set winner, as was the reliable Ruby Williams and Charlie Paton, and multiple three set winner Jamie Loy.
Jack McGrillen, for Mitre 10, continues on his winning way, winning three sets playing against the evergreen Graeme Murphy.
The second round match ups had farmers Rob Wettenhall and Graeme Murphy, both from along Lindifferon Lane, playing against townies Riley Hamilton and Jack McGrillen.
The townies won 6-5 in a tie-break.
These results see Deni Newsagency step ahead of Mitre 10 to move into a clear second place.
Peppin remains in the lead in the comp, with Legal Eagles running fourth.
