O and coach Damian Sexton has coached the interleague team for the past three years, winning the previous two outings.
“They just wanted it more – that’s how the game goes and I give credit to the Goulburn Valley,” he told The Free Press.
“We got on the scoreboard early but then their midfield got on top and peppered the goals. They had the momentum. We had our opportunities.”
O and M led by 28 points early in the second quarter but the eventual winners kicked eight of the last nine goals.
Corowa-Rutherglen’s three representatives Jed Longmire, Ryan Eyers and Sam Dunstan “acquitted themselves well”, Sexton said.
“Ryan and Jed will gain a lot playing this interleague match,” he said. “When Ryan went down as part of the back six he was terrific at the contest.
“Jed was really good with his strong work. Sam missed a couple of shoots early that he’d normally get – if he had got those, he would have had his tail up.”

It was very pleasing to see the Roos having three representatives in the interleague team. The Roos take on Raiders this Saturday in an away game.
Young Roos Luke Nicholson and Isaac Dickinson both played well in the O and M’s Under 18 Interleague team’s win against GVFL.
