Simon Chisholm’s rink held sway for most of the day to run out five-shot winners, 21-16, while Mark Quor’s team went down by four, losing 26 shots to 30.
The combination of Jamie Shields, Carly Crothers, John Fisher and Steve O’Brien was seemingly in control when leading 16-6 after 13 ends and then four shots ahead with only three stops to play.
However, they dropped six shots on the next two ends and needed a two on the last to salvage a draw and secure the overall one-shot victory.
Divison 2 had a day to forget at home against Echuca, being soundly defeated on all three rinks to go down 32 shots to 81.
Stuart Treble’s team lost ten shots to 21, while David Hessel’s crew were defeated by 14, 11-25.
Paul Snare, Mick Atley, Mark Tasker and Steve King led 3-2 after the first four ends, trailed 3-24 after 13, before eventually going under, 11 shots to 35.
Division 3 was also beaten on all rinks against Deni RSL, who recorded a very comfortable 72-43 victory.
Mark Law’s team lost 18-24, Tom Todd’s 12-17, while Tim Dover’s side was soundly defeated, 13 shots to 31.

One of the Men’s Singles semi-finals was played on Sunday, with Shane Laing just doing enough late in a seesawing contest to edge past Mark Tasker.
Laing held a handy lead early before Tasker fought back in the middle stages to take over the information, with the match seemingly in the balance.
Laing steadied late, however, and despite several frivolous calls for a measure, did enough to win through to the final.
His opponent in the last will be decided on Thursday when Steve O’Brien battles Andrew Holloway.
The Ladies Singles’ finalists were decided after Carly Crothers defeated Jill Grimshaw on Sunday.
Crothers will now play Joanne Bovell, who advanced to the final with a victory over Joy McArthur in the other semi-final.
