This week was a tough contest as we faced a determined Barooga side who came out firing and with a clear drive to prove they can challenge any team in the competition.
From the first whistle, Barooga played a composed and structured game in attack, while bringing relentless pressure and chaos in defence that disrupted our rhythm early on.
We enjoyed plenty of time with the ball in hand throughout the match, but at times struggled with consistency, playing erratically and getting caught in Barooga’s defensive web.
A few key positional changes allowed us to regain composure, bringing more control to our attacking transitions.
Some strong shooting accuracy under the post kept us just in front heading into the final quarter.
The last term was a thriller.
Neck and neck until the final minutes.
Fortunately, we were able to find another gear and edge ahead in the last five minutes to seal a narrow win.
Full credit to Barooga for a stellar performance and a game that truly tested us.
Once again, Ella Park was dominant across the court.
She’s hitting peak form at the perfect time of the season.
Ella Harvey’s leadership and experience were invaluable in settling our attacking end, guiding play with calm authority.
Emma Parks has been stringing together consistent, high-level performances — and there’s no doubt we’re a better team when she’s firing.
A huge shout-out to Katie Arandt, who stepped up from B-grade to help out in defence. Katie was strong, composed, and slotted seamlessly into the line-up alongside Ella and Emma, despite limited time together on court.
A gritty, hard-fought win that showed our resilience but also highlighted the level of competition we can expect moving forward.
