The young Rams played with incredible heart, but went down by 21 points.
They still showcased the enormous resilience and spirit that has defined their season.
From the first bounce, the Rams gave their absolute all, fighting for every contest, possession and goal.
It was a tense and tight first exchange, with some inaccurate kicking from both ends, seeing Cobram edge 2-1 ahead in the opening minutes.
It took until the 13th minute for the match to have its first major score, as the Rams barrelled one home, but a minute later, Cobram responded.
The score read 8-8 at the opening break, demonstrating the game was evenly keeled.
However, the Tigers exploded with a four-goal second exchange to zoom ahead, assuming a 33-16 lead at the half.
A cagey 15 minutes to kick off the third quarter was eventually split by another Cobram major, but Deniliquin kept things interesting with a pair of quick goals to round out the term.
As it happened, the fourth quarter mirrored the first – but that played right into Cobram’s hands as its earlier buffer came in handy, and with another, added to the scoreboard.
The final score read 7.10 (52) to 4.7 (31), with Cobram star Samuel DeVincentis named best afield for his performance.
Saturday’s triumph finally snapped an unlucky grand final streak for the young Tigers, too.
Cobram has featured in the past four under-14s deciders and, despite falling at the final hurdle in 2023 and 2024, got over the line against a tenacious Rams team in 2025.
Overall, the Rams’ effort and determination were clear to see, with the players working hard to stick tackles, chasing hard, and supporting one another right to the final siren.
The team was backed by a huge and vocal Deni supporter base, who cheered every effort and lifted the players throughout the game.
While the result didn’t fall the Rams way, the improvement and development this group has shown over the season is something to be proud of.
Each player has grown in confidence, skill, and teamwork, setting a strong foundation going into next year.
Deni goals: Logan Elphick 2, Seth Boyer, Ollie Murray.
