In the senior football the Rams are coming off an important 9 point win at home against Barooga last weekend.
That result leaves the Rams seniors in seventh position on the ladder but are tied with Numurkah in sixth position and Rumbalara in eigth position all with six wins and eight losses.
Despite the close scoreline against Barooga the team got the all important win.
Deni Rams seniors football head coach Gary Parsons said last round’s game for the Rams didn’t showcase the most stylish gameplay but showed what the Rams strengths have been this season.
“It was a pretty lacklustre game of footy from both sides”
“But it was good to get the points and get the win.”
“Our depth is really telling.”
“At the start of the year we didn’t think we’d have strength in our depth but actually our depth has been really good.”
“We’re still poking along and managed to play seven or so thirds in our seniors team and about eight or nine subs in our senior team which has led to the improvement we’ve seen.”
“Again on the weekend it showed our backline is probably our strength Mick Barnett, John Anstee, Harry Hillier and Cable Fitzpatrick when healthy.”
“Those four, I’d back them against anyone in the competition.”
Tomorrow the Rams play Moama who are in second-place on the ladder.
The Rams last played against Moama who hosted the round 10 match-up with the Rams losing by 17 points but the margin was less than a goal with two minutes remaining.
Parsons said the team will try use the successful tactics of how they last played Moama to make it another close game.
“We tend to play better on smaller grounds at the moment.”
“We’ll try to make the ground a bit smaller on Saturday, bring numbers to the contest and play a more contested style of football which has been keeping us in games.”
“It was a bit of experience and bit tired towards the end of games but I’m relatively confident we can match them.”
This weekend for the Rams is past players and supporters day at the Hardinge St Oval from 1pm tomorrow and despite the seniors currently mounting long-term injury list the team are looking to be spurred on by a few returning active players and their supporters on the sidelines.
“We’ve lost young Will Henderson who’s done an ankle, Liam Pitts is out with a hamstring and Riley Hamilton is also out this weekend.”
“I don’t normally like to talk about injuries to the media but the reality is we’ve been up against it this season with 10 or 12 long term injuries but as I said our depth has been really telling.”
“It has kept us in equal sixth on the ladder at the moment.”
“Also this weekend hopefully we’ll get Angus Durnan, Chase Bartlett and Tom Cochrane to all come back in.”
“I’m confident we can put in a good performance.”
“(Past players and supporters day) should be good.”
“Hopefully they can yell over the fence and get us over the line.”
