It is another important weekend for all the Rovers football and netball teams, who are all looking to cement their position in finals at the end of the year.
In the seniors’ football, the Rovers will be looking to snap a three-game losing streak after losses to Katamatite, Katandra and most recently a 13 point loss against Strathmerton at home before the bye last week.
Rovers senior football coach Alex Hay said after the disappointing loss to the ninth placed Strathmerton, the Rovers will be out to show they can get back into winning form with four games before the end of the home and away season.
“The loss against Strathmerton was pretty disappointing,” he said.
“I mentioned heading into the game that although they probably hadn’t performed as well throughout the year as to how they typically would, they are a good club, and it’s always hard to keep a side like that down.
“I think unfortunately we probably went in with that attitude, and they got onto it. They also controlled the ball well for a majority of the game.
“Having said that, I feel as though we certainly weren’t at our best, so to still be within touch is a positive if you can spin it that way.
“It was also good to have a few players back who had been out for a while with injuries.

“I thought Ryan Hudson and Cam Wills had an immediate impact, and they will only get better.”
Katunga are in 10th on the ladder with five wins and seven losses so far this season, and will be looking to close the gap with Deni who are in 7th with seven wins and five losses.
In their last four matches, Katunga has had wins against Blighty and Mathoura as well as losses to Jerilderie and Rennie.
Hay said the Rovers want their play to look closer to the finished product this weekend.
“We will welcome back another couple of key players this weekend, all things going well at training, but in terms of how we want to play is certainly just the consistency piece that we have been chasing for a while.
“I’ve mentioned a number of times that our best is great with our attacking ball movement and the way we defend, but the gap between our best and worst has let us down too often. So that is what I’d love to see on Saturday.
“A focus for us going into the game this weekend will just be to get a bit more desperate, I think.
“At different stages, we’ve been happy to look forward to the next contest rather than what’s in front of us, and that’s not what we want to be known for.
“Katunga will be a great challenge and a good opportunity to build some momentum if we can get the game looking right.”
