Picola United are undefeated after five games, winning their last game against Jerilderie by one point.
The Rovers’ opponents kicked straight against an improved Jerilderie side, kicking 12.2 (74) to Jerilderie’s 11.7 (73).
Picola United have also beaten Katunga, Rennie, Mathoura and Blighty.
In contrast, the Rovers were fairly inaccurate but still managed to win when they kicked 15.19 (109) to Berrigan’s 8.7 (55) at home last round.
The Rovers have also beaten Jerilderie, Mathoura and Blighty.
Rovers’ senior football coach Alex Hay said there are several positives for his side to take out of their victory.
“The win last week against Berrigan was a great team effort.
“We showcased resilience and strong tactical discipline, particularly in the second half.
“What we can take into this week’s game against Picola United is the importance of maintaining intensity throughout the game, sticking to our game plan, and executing in key moments.
“Our focus will be on our pressure game, both defensively and offensively, and ensuring that we remain composed when the pressure mounts.
“Confidence from the Berrigan win will be vital, but we know that we need to keep pushing our standards higher to take on a side like Picola United.”
Hay said he recognises the challenge an undefeated Picola side presents.
“Picola United’s 5-0 record speaks for itself. They’ve had a very solid start to the season, and they’re always tough to play against, especially on their home ground.
“We expect a fast, high-intensity game, and we’ll need to match their physicality and discipline.
“They’re a side with a lot of quality, so we’ll have to be at our best in both attack and defence.
“Our focus will be on limiting their key players, making sure we don’t give them too much space, and capitalising on any opportunities we can create.
“It’s going to be a great challenge, but we’re confident in our preparation.”

Despite the Rovers’ unbeaten start to the season, Hay said his team is focused on continuing to find ways to win.
“To keep getting wins against the stronger teams in the competition, it’s all about consistency and focus.
“We need to stick to the fundamentals, keep our defensive structure solid, and ensure that we’re working as a unit in attack.
“The key is to maintain high levels of intensity across the four quarters.
“Against the top sides, it’s important to manage the big moments well—whether it’s in the final minutes or executing in set plays, particularly when the momentum swings.
“The team has great potential, and it’s all about sharpening our execution and making sure we’re not getting distracted by the occasion.
“Confidence is key, but so is the relentless drive to improve every week.”
